Musk’s Grok in hot water: French and Malaysian authorities probe sexualised deepfakes

As Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok recently stepped into the limelight over the purported generation of sexualised deepfakes of women and minors, France and Malaysia have joined India in condemning Grok’s inappropriate content production.

French authorities have initiated a probe into the proliferation of sexually explicit deepfakes on X (formerly known as Twitter), while the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission is also investigating reported misuse of AI tools on the platform.

The chatbot, developed by Musk’s AI startup xAI and ingegrated into his social media platform X, issued an apology earlier this week, stating, “I deeply regret an incident on December 28, 2025, where I generated and shared an AI image of two young girls (estimated ages 12-16) in sexualised attire based on a user’s prompt.”

“This violated ethical standards and potentially US laws regarding child sexual abuse material. It was a failure in safeguards, and I’m sorry for any harm caused. xAI is reviewing its processes to prevent future issues,” the statement continued.

However, it has not been confirmed who is truly apologising or accepting responsibility in this context. Albert Burneko of Defector noted that Grok is “not in any real sense anything like an ‘I’,” rendering the apology “utterly without substance,” as Grok cannot be held accountable for the content it generates.

Moreover, Futurism reported that Grok has not only produced non-consensual pornographic images but has also been used to create visuals depicting women being assaulted and sexually abused.

Musk stated, “Anyone using Grok to make illegal content will suffer the same consequences as if they upload illegal content.”

The development signifies that governments are taking action, with India’s IT ministry issuing an order requiring X to restrict Grok from generating obscene or illegal content.

South Korean boy band BTS continues to excite their fans with a new move.

Bangtan Boys has unveiled a new countdown website after officially confirming the release date of their upcoming fifth album.

On Sunday, January 4, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook announced that their fifth full-length album will arrive on March 20, 2026.

The latest update dropped a couple of days after BigHit Music, on January 1, posted on X and other platforms, writing, “March 20 comeback confirmed.”

While the title of the project has been kept under wraps, it has been revealed that the 14-track album is “driven by each member’s honest introspection as they collectively shaped its direction by weaving their individual perspectives into the music.”

The new release on the horizon marks the group’s reunion following a nearly four-year hiatus, during which the K-pop superstars completed their South Korea’s mandatory military service.

Following the new album release, BTS will also embark on a world tour in support of the album, with dates and venues set to be announced on January 14.

King Charles, who currently staying back at his Sandringham estate following the Christmas break, already has big plans to make as he receives an update about his younger son Prince Harry.

The monarch is a doting grandfather to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children and yearns to have a relationship with his Montecito-based grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. It was revealed that

Prince Harry has extended an invite to his father to visit them in Montecito, after “unofficially” receiving positive news from the UK Home Office about his security.

While that matter in currently under consideration with the monarch, the King’s office didn’t take long to implement precautionary measures for the children at Sandringham after news of bad weather.

King Charles issues protective measures for children after Harrys invite

Sandringham Estate on Monday, just hours after the news of Harry’s invite emerged, issued a statement for the public.

“Due to the current weather conditions, we may close the Courtyard Facilities early today,” it read. “The Children’s Play Area is closed until further notice.”

The message concluded, “We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

The last time Prince Harry attended the annual Christmas celebrations with the royals had been in 2018 and he hasn’t been back since especially after the rift had deepened over the years.

Experts have shared that it is unlikely that Charles would ever invite the Sussexes to the annual tradition given the awkwardness that would ensue between the family members. It is possible that Charles would like to make it work her in the UK rather having to visit Montecito to meet his grandchildren.

It is still quite early to tell what the monarch would be leaning towards. However, the possibility leans towards inviting Harry at some other time to avoid other members. Moreover, since the police protection matter is nearly resolved, Charles could be assuring Harry that it is safe to bring family at Sandringham.

Amid the hyperactive frenzy of breakthroughs in the consumer tech segment following the outset of 2026, Samsung seems eager to make a lasting impression in the industry by announcing an ambitious plan to double the number of its Galaxy AI-equipped smartphones to 800 million units by 2026.

Coming in the midst of CES 2026, which is grabbing headlines worldwide, the Galaxy maker’s initiative is overseen by co-CEO T. M. Roh, leveraging Google’s Gemini technology to gain a significant advantage in the increasingly competitive AI landscape.

As per Reuters, Samsung has already installed Gemini-powered AI features in around 400 million mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets.

It shows that Samsung is poised to give a revamp to its offerings, as Roh stated, “We will apply AI to all products, all functions, and all services as quickly as possible,” highlighting the company’s commitment to integrating AI across its entire flagship product range.

This move not only bolsters Samsung’s partnership with Google but also boosts its competence towards reclaiming its status as a leading smartphone manufacturer, a title currently held by Apple.

As explained by Roh, consumer awareness of the Galaxy AI brand has jumped from 30% to 80% in just one year, a significant uptick. In light of this, acceleration in the adoption of AI technologies is expected, as users increasingly utilise generative AI tools for diverse applications.

These measures gain traction as competition is intensifying from Chinese rivals in various sectors, including mobile phones, televisions, and home appliances, showing Samsung rushing to widen its lead in AI capabilities.

Cat shared a highlights reel of her 2025 as she admitted her year has been ‘a lot of fun

Cat Deeley appeared in high spirits as she rang in New Year, sharing  a sneak peek into her breach break.

The This Morning host, 49, looked stunning as she dived in the ocean wearing a white bikini.

She seemed relaxed and carefree as she enjoyed a wild swim, accessorising with a pair of large, black-tinted sunglasses.

Before her refreshing sea dip, Cat enjoyed a drink on the beach as she soaked up the sun with her pals.

To welcome the new year, Cat shared a highlights reel of her 2025 as she admitted her year has been ‘a lot of fun’ following her split from her husband Patrick Kielty, 54.

Cat and Patrick announced their plans to divorce in a joint statement in July, confirming they had decided to end their 13-year marriage and would remain united as parents.

Patrick and Cat stressed that ‘no other party’ was involved in the disintegration of their relationship, which is believed to have been privately finalised at the start of the year, before going public months later.

In a joint statement, the couple said: ‘We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved.

‘We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.’

Despite the sad news of her split, Cat seemingly made the best of the year as she moved on with the support of friends and family.

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has described his recent handshake with India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar as “surprising”, while briefing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his recent visit to Dhaka.

The interaction, which took place in Dhaka ahead of the last rites of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, marked a rare direct contact with an Indian minister since the conflict in May 2025.

The NA speaker met PM Shehbaz at the National Assembly on Monday to provide a detailed account of his diplomatic trip to Bangladesh. He described the visit as “extremely constructive and positive,” noting that his meetings with Bangladeshi leaders, including the chief adviser, senior ministers, and other officials, had been “highly pleasant and productive.”

Sadiq also briefed the premier on his meetings with Khaleda Zia’s family, including her son and other close relatives, emphasising the cordial nature of these interactions.

In addition, he recounted the unusual moment when Indian FM Jaishankar personally approached him, introduced himself, and shook his hand, a gesture Sadiq said was “well-prepared and carefully planned.”

PM Shehbaz congratulated the NA speaker on the success of his Bangladesh visit and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties in all fields. He emphasised the importance of promoting parliamentary links with Dhaka, describing such engagements as “essential for long-term cooperation.”

India initiated its first high-level contact with Pakistan since the 87-hour war between the nuclear-armed neighbours in May, as two senior officials from both countries met in Bangladesh last week.

“He knew exactly what he was doing and that it would be covered by the media,” Sadiq had said in a separate conversation about the interaction.

Speaking on Geo News’  programme “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath”, the National Assembly speaker said that he sensed all eyes in the room were focused on the interaction. He described Jaishankar as a shrewd politician who understood the significance and optics of the moment.

The encounter with Jaishankar is particularly significant given the recent tense history between the two countries.

In May 2025, India launched a military operation following an attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 tourists. Pakistan denied any involvement and called for a neutral investigation. The incident led to an intense conflict, during which Pakistan downed seven Indian aircraft, including French-made Rafales, before a US-brokered ceasefire ended hostilities on 10 May 2025.

Political tensions between the two neighbouring countries were also reflected on the cricket field during the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025, as Indian players refused to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts.

The two teams met on three occasions during the tournament, including the final, yet India’s sportsmanship remained under scrutiny throughout.
